How to Evaluate a CMS — Devices Supported

If you’re considering a particular Content Management System (CMS) for your own website, does it support the devices you like to use?

In an ideal world, you could publish articles to your website using any computing device.

However, that is almost never the case. Most CMSs are quite limited.

Sure, just about any CMS supports Windows PC and Mac and Linux.

But most do not support Android. Or iOS. Or iPadOS.

Or if the CMS claims to support those, it is to a trivial degree.

Some CMSs offer mobile apps for Android or iOS. However, in my own testing, I find most of those apps are awful. Or at least far too restricted.

So if using a particular computing device is important to you, you will need to pay close attention to this before you commit to a CMS.

Otherwise, you will be forever locked into a very limited set of devices.
